From Rags to Richest Fashion

From Rags to Richest Fashion

When you have too much money in your bank account, the only thing to do is spend it – mostly on ridiculous items you never thought you’d “need”, especially when it comes to fashion items which could cost an arm and a leg, and perhaps your first born child. Take a look at some of the most expensive (and rather unnecessary if you ask us) fashion pieces in the world, in no particular order:

Falke Vicuna Wool Socks

They look like a pair of rather ugly socks you may have dug out of your grandfather’s drawers, but do not be fooled! These tan socks are made from Vicuna wool and fetch about $1188 a pair. Vicunas are similar to Alpacas and llamas but are endangered and impossible to domesticate. Their wool grows so slowly that they can only be sheared every 3 years. Vicuna wool can cost between $1800 and $3000 per yard. You better hope your washing machine doesn’t swallow one of these!

The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse

A clutch like no other, this one is handcrafted from 18-carat gold, encrusted in over 4500 diamonds – a total of 382 carats – and took over 8800 hours to make. It’s worth? A rather nice $3 800 000. Spare change anyone?

Harry Winston Ruby Slippers

How much do you love The Wizard of Oz? Enough to spend $3 million on a pair of recreated ruby slippers made with real rubies? Ronald Winston of the House of Harry Winston decided to create these slippers in honor of the movie’s golden anniversary. The original pair was made with sequins but this pair boasts 4600 rubies equalling 1350 carats in total. Winston even threw in 50 carats of diamonds, just for good measure.

Diamond Wedding Dress

If you’re filthy rich and planning your wedding then this might be just what you’ve been looking for – the most expensive wedding dress in the world. This dress was designed by Renee Strauss, a bridal designer, and Martin Katz, a diamond connoisseur. The diamond dress apparently boasts 150 carats and will set you back about $12 million.

Debbie Wingham Heels

Strangely, instead of the sparkling pair of heels you’d expect, one is faced with a rather gaudy looking pair of yellow heels which resemble a cake, right down to the edible looking “frosting” piped along the edges. These shoes feature some extremely rare- and large – pink and blue diamonds along with four flawless 3-carat white diamonds and 1000 smaller diamonds. And that’s not all – the leather is painted with 24-carat gold paint and the whole shoe is stitched together with 18-carat gold thread. And let’s not forget the solid gold zipper and sole. If you ask us, there are prettier things one could buy with $15 million.

So if you’re ever bored, looking for a shopping spree and have too much money, then this would be a great place to start looking for those one of a kind fashion items with one of a kind price tags. Happy shopping!
