One Winner Takes Home £71 Million
The EuroMillions jackpot reached an unbelievable £71 million in March this year. Many scrabbled to buy their tickets but only one lucky man walked away with the entire amount.
Ade Goodchild was the sole winner of the £71,057,439 EuroMillions jackpot on Friday 15th March 2019. The 58-year-old divorcee worked for 24 years as a metal worker in Hereford. He bought his ticket from the Co-op store in Ledbury Road and originally thought he had won a much smaller amount due to sharing the jackpot. He was in shock when he checked his ticket again on the National Lottery App and realised he was the sole winner!
Winning the EuroMillions Jackpot
He immediately called his mum and dad who couldn’t believe he’d won the EuroMillions jackpot.
“Their reaction was one of complete shock – I still don’t think it’s sunk in for them.” Said Ade.
Ade is an only child and says his parents have always been there for him and, like all parents, have worried about how long he would have to work for to pay off his mortgage and bills. Now they will never have to worry again. He even told them to stop saving and rather spend his inheritance.
The three of them had a low key celebration at home. Originally from South Wales, they all enjoyed a takeaway pizza, spicy chicken wings, and Italian beer whilst watching Wales vs Ireland in the Six Nations match on television.
Ade decided to go public after collecting his EuroMillion jackpot winnings. This makes him the biggest winner of a single ticket to do so in the UK. He is already starting his new rich life on a very lavish foot.
“I’m not one of these winners who is going to say this win won’t change me,” he said, “It bloody well will or at least I’ll give it a damn good go! There’ll be no more shift work for me.”
Spending the EuroMillions Jackpot Money
After retiring from his job, Ade plans to live the finer life. He has his eye on a house complete with Jacuzzi and swimming pool. He also wants his own chef and chauffer.
Ade has always dreamed of visiting The Grand Canyon and the Pyramids and is definitely putting those on his to-do list.
Besides living a life of luxury, Ade has also said that he hopes to help some of his family out.
“Me and my cousins often get together and the date was already in the diary last Sunday to meet for lunch. I must have come across very emotional but I couldn’t tell them about the win. I didn’t want to spoil our day. Most of them know now though. I am going to enjoy sitting down and chatting about how I might be able to help them.” He said.
When asked about new love interests and if he thought the money made him more ‘attractive’, Ade replied: “Anybody I think I couldn’t have pulled before has got no chance, because I haven’t suddenly become more attractive overnight – just my wallet has. I take people as I find them but like I say, I’m not a stupid man.”
Although he did fear he would now be a target for gold diggers.
Ade Goodchild, who has two ex-wives and no children, has now become the 15th biggest National Lottery winner in the UK. To put his win into perspective – he could buy 300 new Ferraris, or a private island in the Caribbean complete with spa and pool.
